This year’s Parallel Art Show opens at ArtSpring on September 28, and runs until October 19, showing concurrently with the SSNAP Finalist Exhibition at Mahon Hall and the new SSNAP Youth Exhibition in the Mahon Hall Annex. Together, these exhibitions form a multi-venue celebration of artistic excellence on Salt Spring Island.

The autumn exhibition by the Victoria Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists will take place at the Goldfinch Arts Centre. I have two paintings accepted into the show.

Two artists of the bricolage tradition invite visitors to eavesdrop on our visual conversation (augmented with some whimsical “faux”punctuation).

As makers we speak through the objects we create and often in the making, the work shifts direction. Our collaboration offers a visual call and response realized through careful attention to each others language and meaning. We encourage the viewer to join us in considering all the aspects of our installation: the individual works, their juxtaposition and placement, as well as the work in its entirety shaped for the gallery space.

In our era of siloed communication, we need to listen to one another’s divergent ideas in life as well as art. “A Conversation” demonstrates clearly that dialogue is always larger than the sum of its parts.

I have four paintings entered in this show, which you will be able to visit in the beautiful surroundings of Algonquin Park. The Visitor Centre is located in the Park, at Km 43.0 on Highway 60

I have 4 pieces in the show. And the fall leaves are an art show of their own!

This minimalism exhibition, As Little As Possible, As Much As Necessary, is presented by members of the Ontario Society of Artists and their guests.

In September 2024 I travelled to France, and Spain to exhibit at Gálicca International Art Gallery, who now represents me in the European art market.

Peace Gallery North's next exhibit 'Let's Get Rolling' is a group show from Print Artists North. Print Artists North (PAN) is a diverse printmaking community that was incorporated as a part of the Flying Colours Artists' Association in 2016. Members are committed to the promotion of traditional and experimental printmaking practices. They create work using a wide variety of processes and approaches including lino-cuts, mono prints, collagraphs, etchings, cyanotypes and more.

A solo exhibition of sixty abstract paintings at the Leamington Art centre.

Artist in Residence at L'Aromas Bakehouse and Coffee Roastery from March 2022 to current. I have over 25 pieces of art decorating the walls of the large and beautiful space of L'Aromas. Be sure to venture into the billiards room to see more abstract art on display.

So pleased to now have art on display at Nat’s Coffeehouse in Tsawwassen! I have a mixture of abstracts and seascapes for you to enjoy while you sip your coffee. Thank you to our wonderful community for always supporting local artists!

The City of Florence has eight Art Exposed locations in the Old Town area: Veterans Memorial Park, River Roasters, Rain Garden, Interpretive Center East, Gazebo Park Plaza, Secret Garden, Maple Street Park, and Florence Area Chamber of Commerce Lawn.

Judith is interested in the potential for interactions between Art and Science. She and partner Mike enthusiastically support the endeavors of the Perimeter Institute, Waterloo, Ontario. Eight of Judith's paintings have been accepted into the Perimeter Institute's art collection and installed in various venues within the Perimeter.

This exhibition will feature a number of my geometric compositions, including examples from my Living With Cancer Series; some of my responses to the dire situation our world is in just now; and a few more whimsical, light-hearted pieces to remind us that all is not - and must not be - lost.

For those who might want to know more specifically what was on my mind mind as I created any given painting, a small binder with my comments about the works on display will be available.

This a 2 night event down on Granville Island. I donated a painting for this show which is one of 10 paintings selected to be in the Live Auction on the first night. There is also a silent auction and multiple other activities planned. I’m very excited to have been selected to participate in this juried, annual fine art exhibition again this year. Admission is free to this one of a kind event with live music, food and a very cozy atmosphere. Stay tuned for further details.

Arts West Council and Carberry Plains Arts Council invite you to unlock your creativity with our 2-Day Workshop with instructor Leona Herzog. Bring life and movement to your botanical watercolours by creating depth. Learn how colour choice and tonal value can add volume to your leaves and petals, and how it can be used to impact the illusion of distance in a composition.

Leona Herzog’s art practice focuses on botanical watercolours and fibres. She has studied with a variety of teachers including Winnipeg watercolour painter Jill Brooks, as well as further afield. To focus on botanicals, she has trained at Kew Gardens, England with Lucy Smith who illustrates many of their plants.

Some experience with watercolour is recommended, but this workshop will benefit artists at every level.

Date: Saturday and Sunday November 1 and 2, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a one-hour break for lunch (12-1pm)
Location: Carberry-North Cypress Centennial Drop-in Center, 132 Main St., Carberry MB
Fee: $100 (supplies are not included) - Space is limited to the first fully paid 16 registrations.

A supplies list will be provided on receiving your payment, also it is recommended you bring a brown-bag lunch so that instruction can resume promptly at 1pm.

Painting Trees with Confidence - with Ann Willsie, SFCA.

Trees can be one of the trickiest and most daunting elements to portray in a landscape, yet they are also some of the most essential. Whether they serve as the main focus or play a supporting role, trees bring character, depth and life to your scenes. 

This workshop will guide you in approaching trees with confidence. We'll begin by simplifying their shapes and contours through basic outlines, making them more approachable to paint. You'll work on small, quick studies of tree forms using provided reference photographs and we'll discuss techniques to effectively depict their various features. 

The workshop will help you focus on simplifying tree structures, capturing the unique "gesture" of each tree to convey its essence, and using atmospheric perspective to create depth and realism in your landscapes.
